1).
What is DNS?
DNS stands for Domain Name Service. It is the Internet-wide system for connecting domain names, like yahoo.com, to their respective web servers. DNS translates domain names to their corresponding IP Address. Without DNS, people would have to visit their favorite web sites by typing in numbers instead of their names.

2).
What is the meaning of 'invalid DNS' during registration or modification of DNS?
When an 'invalid DNS' message showed, it indicates that the current DNS that you fill in is not valid, or is not register with Registry. A DNS has to register with respective registry in order for you to use it to register domain name or modify DNS.

To resolve the issue, please use the Nameserver Registration feature in Partner Central. Submit your Hostname and IP address. WebNIC shall assist you to register the NS. Once registered you can use the DNS for your future registration and modification.

3).
How can I Register New DNS? Is there any charge?
The DNS registration is free of charge for partners. Please use the Nameserver Registration feature in Partner Central. Submit your Hostname and IP address. . WebNIC shall assist you to register the NS.

While there are some restrictions on the domain name used as name server.
  • The current registrar of the domain name MUST be WebNIC

  • 4).
Why webNIC is unable to register DNS for me?
As mentioned in Question 3, if a domain name does not belong or registered under WebNIC, webNIC is unable to register the DNS for you.

    5).
Can I use other valid DNS to register and modify DNS later?
Yes, you can. Due to NS registration will take 2 to 3 business day, in order for you to register your domain name urgently, it is advise that you use other valid DNS to secure your domain name and modify the DNS later using Web Address Manager feature.

    6).
Can I use webNIC's default DNS? What is the DNS?
Yes, you may also use webNIC's default DNS to register the domain name. WebNIC default DNS are:
     ns1.ezydomain.com
     ns2. ezydomain.com

    7).
May DNS has been registered before, why I still encounter 'invalid DNS' message?
Please note that 1 NS need to be registered with respective registry in order for the NS to work in respective Registry's database. For example, ns1.xxx.com might have register with .com/.net Registry and therefore you are able to use it to register .com/.net domain name. But same NS, ns1.xxx.com is not able to register .info/.biz domain name due to this ns is not register with .info and .biz registry. Therefore you need to request webNIC to register this ns into .info and .biz registry in order for you to register .info or .biz domain name. Please refer Question 2 for NS registration.

    8).
How to modify DNS after registered?
To modify NS that has registered, please send an email to mailto:support@web.cc for assistance.

    9).
Why webNIC has to ensure DNS is valid to register domain name or modify DNS?
Please note that valid DNS is a request of respective Registry, not from webNIC. Therefore to register domain name with respective Registry, please comply to the NS registration process.

    10).
    What is an MX Record?
MX Records specify what servers on the Internet are responsible for handling e-mail sent to your domain. You can assign more than one server with priority rankings, so that you can still get mail if the primary server fails. Successful use of an MX Record requires cooperation with your ISP. They must properly configure the mail server to receive e-mail from your domain.

    11).
I'm changing my e-mail services; do I need to change the MX settings for my domain name?
In most cases, if you choose to change the e-mail service provider for your domain name, you will need to change the mail servers that are specified in the MX Record for your domain name. The new e-mail service provider must provide you with this information.

    12).
    What is an A Record?
The A-Record, also called the "address record", is the most important part of the DNS record. It is used to link your domain to its corresponding IP Address. You can obtain an IP address from the hosting partner you sign up with. An A Record only can accept IP address.

    13).
    What is a CNAME Record?
A CNAME Record, also known as a Domain Alias, is an extension to a domain name that allows you to create versions of the domain that can be translated to any other existing domain.

    14).
Can I create CNAME Records that resolve to IP Addresses rather than other domain names?
CNAME Records can only contain entries that resolve to other domain names or sub domains residing on the Internet. A Records on the other hand, resolve to IP Addresses.

    15).
Why won't the CNAME Record I created for my domain name not access the site to which it is mapped?
In the event that your domain name is successfully accessing your Web site, but Domain Aliases that you have set up are not reaching the "resolve to" domain, it may be due to the fact that the Web server at the destination domain needs to be configured to accept requests for the Domain Aliases associated with your domain name. In this case, please contact the administrator of your Web Hosting or ISP account to request that the necessary entries are created.

    16).
How long does it take for A, MX and CNAME Record to take effect.
Every setting of A, MX and CNAME Record shall take minimum 24 hours to take effect.

    17).
Where can I set up my A, MX and CNAME Record?
You can use DNS Hosting feature in Web Address Manager to set up the records.

    18).
Can DNS hosting, URL Forwarding, Email forwarding and Sub-domain Management features co-exist?
Once you have set up A, MX or CNAME Record in DNS hosting feature, the other free services such as URL Forwarding, Email forwarding and Sub-domain Management features will not be valid even though previous setting has been done.
