What is DNS?
DNS stands for Domain Name Service. It is
the Internet-wide system for connecting
domain names, like yahoo.com, to their respective
web servers. DNS translates domain names
to their corresponding IP Address. Without
DNS, people would have to visit their favorite
web sites by typing in numbers instead of
their names.

What is the meaning
of 'invalid DNS' during registration or
modification of DNS?

respective registry in order for you to
use it to register domain name or modify
DNS.

Registration feature in Partner Central.

May DNS has been registered
before, why I still encounter 'invalid DNS'
message?
Please note that 1 NS need to be registered
with respective registry in order for the
NS to work in respective Registry's database.
For example, ns1.xxx.com might have register
with .com/.net Registry and therefore you
are able to use it to register .com/.net
domain name. But same NS, ns1.xxx.com is
not able to register .info/.biz domain name
due to this ns is not register with .info
and .biz registry. Therefore you need to
request webNIC to register this ns into
.info and .biz registry in order for you
to register .info or .biz domain name. Please
refer Question 2 for NS registration.

What is an MX Record?
MX Records specify what servers on the Internet
are responsible for handling e-mail sent
to your domain. You can assign more than
one server with priority rankings, so that
you can still get mail if the primary server
fails. Successful use of an MX Record requires
cooperation with your ISP. They must properly
configure the mail server to receive e-mail
from your domain.
|
|
|
| 11). |
I'm changing my e-mail
services; do I need to change the MX settings
for my domain name?
In most cases, if you choose to change the
e-mail service provider for your domain
name, you will need to change the mail servers
that are specified in the MX Record for
your domain name. The new e-mail service
provider must provide you with this information.

Can I create CNAME Records
that resolve to IP Addresses rather than
other domain names?

resolve to other domain names or sub domains
residing on the Internet. A Records on the
other hand, resolve to IP Addresses.
|
|
|
| 15). |
Why won't the CNAME
Record I created for my domain name not
access the site to which it is mapped?
In the event that your domain name is successfully
accessing your Web site, but Domain Aliases
that you have set up are not reaching the
"resolve to" domain, it may be due to the
fact that the Web server at the destination
domain needs to be configured to accept
requests for the Domain Aliases associated
with your domain name. In this case, please
contact the administrator of your Web Hosting
or ISP account to request that the necessary
entries are created.

for A, MX and CNAME Record to take effect.
