What is a Second-Level
'.hk'domain name?
Second-Level '.hk' domain name ('2LD') refers
to the new domain name category (e.g. 'yourname.hk')
which is shorter as compared to the existing
3rd Level categories (e.g. 'yourname.com.hk').

Is there any document
required for registering a Second-Level
'.hk' domain name?
Generally, no documentary proof is required
to register a Second- Level '.hk' domain
name, except for those domain name applications
consisting of or containing a reference
to wordings like 'bank', 'insurance' or

What is the annual fee
for registering a Second-Level '.hk' domain
name?
The fee to register 2nd level .hk domain
name under a one-year basic contract will
cost USD 27.

Will my current Third-Level
'.hk' domain name be migrated to Second-Level
automatically if I register a 2nd level
domain name?
No, Registry primary aim to launch the Second-Level
'.hk' domain name is to provide more choices
on '.hk' domain name to the public. If you
are an existing customer under 3rd Level
categories, your current domain name registration
will not be affected after registering a
new 2LD.

Currently DNS modification, WHOIS modification
is not available at real-time. It will be

during Sunrise Period

What is .HK registration
during Sunrise Period?
.HK Sunrise Period will be opened up on
12:00 noon on 17 May 2004 to 5:30pm on 28 May 2004.
This is when .HK Registry accept applications
from public. During this period, partners
of WebNIC.cc is able to submit for 2nd level
.HK via our interface. Please note that
this is not real-time registration or 1st
come 1st serve basic. All the registration
will be processed in one batch after the
Sunrise period ends.

starts?
Sunrise Period will be started on 12:00 noon on 17 May 2004 to 5:30pm on 28 May 2004.

How is the registration
process during Sunrise period?
The registration is only available in Partner
Central ( http://www.webnic.cc/):

Key in the domain name that you would
like to submit for registration
Submit the domain name to our system
Payment deducted from your account.
We will submit the name and notify you
via email on whether you have successfully
register the name(s) under your partner
account. If domain name registration is
not successful, we will refund the payment
into your account.

What is the registration
term during Sunrise period?
The registration year during Sunrise period
is 1, 2, 3 and 5 year(s).

When will WebNIC.cc
submit for real registration?
WebNIC.cc will submit your name to Registry
upon your submission through our Partner
Central Interface. Please note the registration
will not be performed by Registry until
end of Sunrise Period.

Am I guaranteed to get
the domain name during Sunrise period?
No. Registry will determine who shall be
the owner of the domain name at end of Sunrise
Period.

How would I know if
I have successfully registered the names?
The result of .HK registration during Sunrise
period will be notified to you via emails
after notification received from Registry
on or after 29-May-2004.

How about the payment
during Sunrise period?
Payment deducted from your account upon
domain name submission. We will submit the
name and notify you via email on whether
you have successfully register the name(s)
under your partner account. If domain name
registration is not successful, we will
refund the payment into your account.

'.hk' domain name?
Generally speaking, no documentary proof
is required to register a Second- Level
'.hk' domain name, except applications for
domain name consisting of or containing
a reference to words like 'bank', 'insurance'
or 'assurance' will require additional documents
issued by relevant authorities. For details

How will HKDNR manage
if there is more than one customer applying
for the same domain name during the Sunrise
Period?
During the Sunrise Period, the 'first come,
first serve' rule will not be applied and
there is no time pressure for customers
to register their favorite Second-Level
'.hk' domain names. All applications will
be processed in one batch after the period
ends.
Multiple applications for the same domain
name will be decided by Random Selection,
ie if more than one application is received,
decision will be made by draw.

Official Launch

What is .HK Official
Launch?
This is when .HK Registry will launch the
.HK 2nd Level domain name officially and
starts to accept applications from public.
Please note that '1st come 1st serve' rule
will apply after official launch. However,
this is a manual process that result of
registration will not be known instantly.
.HK Registry will process the registration
and notify the result later on.

How will HKDNR manage
if there is more than one customer applying
for the same domain name during the Official
Launch?
After official launch, the 'first come,
first serve' rule will apply and therefore
if you are the first customer to submit
the domain name, you should be able to register
the name. However, this is the manual process
and will be determine by Registry.

How is the deletion
process for .hk domain name?
Partner is require to send an email to support@webnic.cc
to request for ALL deletion for .hk domain
name. We shall update you once the domain
name is deleted by Registry.

If there any refund
for cancellation of 2nd Level .hk domain
name?
No. There will no refund given if partner
perform domain name deletion of NEW registered
.hk domain name even within 3 days grace
period.
