> .ORG Migration to EPP |
|
|
Starting 26th July 2003, 1745
hours (GMT+0800), WebNIC.cc will perform new
API migration to EPP for .org domain name.
Under this migration, there are few changes
in handling .org domain name registration
and transfer, as following:
|
|
| 1). |
Why change to new API
EPP?
PIR, the Registry of .org domain name will
be migrating all registrars over to EPP
and a thick registry model throughout 2003.
The RRP-EPP Proxy will be decommissioned
near the end of 2003. It is important to
note that both PIR and registrars are contractually
obligated to complete the migration to EPP
by the end of December 2003. WebNIC.cc has
taken initiative steps to complete the migration
by 26th July 2003.

| 2). |
What is the change on
.org registration process?
There will be no change in registration
process. However, starting date mentioned
above, .org domain name registration will
NOT be able to accept native character and
symbol. At the same time, an Authorization
Info will be created during each domain
registration. Authorization Info will not
provided to Registrant during registration,
but will be available upon request to WebNIC.cc.
The feature to request the Authorization
Info online will be available soon.

What is the change in
.org domain transfer process?
There will be a new .org domain transfer
function in Quickstart and Private Label.
Due to currently not all of the registrars
have completed the new EPP migration, therefore
please read the process below carefully
to handle domain transfer that belong to
different model:
- Transfer to WebNIC.cc as new Registrar:
- Your current Registrar has integrated
new EPP: If your current Registrar
has integrated the new EPP for .org,
Authorization Info is required.
Our system shall identify that and
therefore you will be required to
fill in the Authorization Info during
transfer. Please obtain the Authorization
Info from your current Registrar
if do not have one. By submitting
the Authorization Info, there will
be no authorization email sending
from WebNIC.cc to authorize the
domain transfer request.
- Your current Registrar is using
old API (RRP): However, if your
current Registrar still using RRP
connection with PIR, your domain
transfer process will be similar
to .com and .net, which domain administrative
contact will be required to authorize
the transfer request in order to
proceed the transfer submission.
- Transfer away from WebNIC.cc: Please
contact support@webnic.cc to obtain
the Authorization Info in order for
you to transfer domain away from WebNIC.cc.

What is Authorization
Info?
Authorization Info will be created by respective
Registrar during registration of .org (after
new API integration), as well as for .info
and .biz. Therefore please contact your
current registrar if you would like to obtain
the Authorization Info of your .org domain
name. For more information, please refer
to FAQ.

What happened to the
.org domain name that previously registered
before API migration?
For all the .org domain names that previously
registered (before date mentioned above),
you do not require to do anything. The integration
will not affect your web site performance
and you will still be able to manage it
as usual using Web Address Manager that
provided by WebNIC.cc.
