Web Commerce Communications Limited
(WEBCC), a leading Registry-Registrar
solution provider for domain names in
Asia, today announced that it has been
awarded the development and implementation
of domain name registry system for .HK
by the Hong Kong Domain Name Registration
Company Limited (HKDNR).
HKDNR is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Hong Kong Internet Registration
Corporation Limited (HKIRC), a non-profit
making organization endorsed by the
Government of HKSAR to oversee the
administration and assignment of the
Internet domain names ending with
.HK.
The Registry infrastructure development
will enable HKDNR to introduce new
services and features to .HK domain
name customers. It would also empower
HKDNR to multiply its volume of domain
names while maintaining the highest
standard of service reliability by
adopting Extensible Provisioning Protocol
(EPP).
The Shared Registry-Registrar model
is an essential step for country-code
Top Level Domain (ccTLD) Registries
to face the global competition and
rapid development of the Internet.
The Shared Registry-Registrar system,
based on WEBCC's RegistryASP SRS suite,
is capable of providing Registries
with a comprehensive set of process
automation tools and management applications
that enable Registries to manage and
maintain Registrar connections to
the Registry.
RegistryASP SRS suite provides registries
with an end-to-end solution to fully
integrate and automate domain name
registration, resolution and management
services which will result in better
efficiency in their business operations.
"We see strong potential in
this area especially among Asian country-code
top level domain registries as they
deploy similar system to their business
operations," said TK Tan, CEO
of WEBCC. "RegistryASP would
empower HKDNR to further streamline
and improve domain names registration
process and connect to more overseas
registrars, thereby extending HKDNR
reach to many potential overseas customers,"
added TK Tan.
"The development and implementation
of domain name registry system paves
the way for HKDNR to employ the latest
development in Registry infrastructure.
This will enable HKDNR to deliver
the most cost effective and efficient
service to customers," said Jonathan
Shea, CEO of HKDNR. "The future
of .hk registry hinges on this new
infrastructure development, and with
the help of WEBCC, we are many steps
closer to achieving the best practices
in the domain name industry,"
added Jonathan.
WEBCC also is one of the leading
ICANN accredited registrar in Asia
and has more than 750 strong network
of reseller sin over 30 countries.
